چکیده
DCCT Research Group was compelled to end the study 1 year early. This gave the conventionally treated patients the opportunity to have the benefits of intensive diabetes management. With the evidence that high blood glucose levels increase the risk of developing complications of diabetes, tight blood glucose control has become the benchmark for successful diabetes management (Diabetes UK, 2000; DCCT Research Group, 1993).
